5 Musts When Starting a Service Business

As a new business owner it is sometimes difficult to grasp what leads to marketing success and what amounts to a waste of time and effort. Use this checklist to make sure you are covering your bases when you begin marketing your service.

1) Service Quality. Before marketing, your service needs to be completely in place. You will get clients over time and those clients will demand a high level of performance and professionalism if they are going to continue paying for whatever it is you offer.

2) Website. Your website doesn’t need to be highly technical, but it does need to convey a message that prospects will understand. At the very minimum, your website should state what you do, how you help people, and how to contact you. If you need someone to put a website together for you, there are plenty of designers who are willing to help… and it’s probably cheaper than you think.

3) Professional E-mail Address. Once your website is set up, you’ll need an e-mail account with your domain name. You can use info@yourdomain.com as a temporary and inexpensive solution.

4) Photographs. People love to see who they are working with, so put your picture on your website. You don’t have to be the best-looking person in the world, but you should be smiling and dressed to impress. In case you’re worried about how you look, remember that if Don King became an immensely wealthy businessman, you can too.

5) Business Cards. You can get nice business cards at a low price from vistaprint.com. Spend a little more money for a card of higher quality. You’ll thank me for it. Once you get your card, let people know about what you do. The more people who know what you do and like you, the better your marketing campaigns will be.

Here’s to your success…
